Interior Painting Tips
Remember Your Colors:
Paint the back of your light switch plates with the color used in that room, or write the color name and number on the plate with a permanent marker. You’ll thank yourself when it’s time for touch-ups.
Tint Your Primer:
When using a deep or bold topcoat, have your primer tinted to a similar shade. This reduces the number of topcoats needed for full, even coverage.
Avoid Sticking Windows & Doors:
Paint windows and doors at the start of your project and keep them open while you work. This gives the paint time to dry fully before closing.
Save Paint for Touch-Ups:
Keep a small amount of each color in a labeled, airtight container. High-traffic areas like kitchens and stairways will inevitably pick up dings—having paint on hand makes quick touch-ups easy.
Consider Self-Priming Paint:

Choosing the Right Color
Color is the easiest and most affordable way to transform a room. A few things to keep in mind: test colors on your wall at different times of day, consider the room’s purpose and lighting, and don’t overlook sheen—flat hides imperfections, while satin and semi-gloss are easier to clean.
